Simple fix for texting and driving:
Since pretty much all phones have GPS capabilities now, the software designers should just simply program the phone to be disabled except for bluetooth phone calls when above like 5 mph. Sad to say but people have proven time and time again that they just can't be responsible with texting/technology. Normally I'd say let Darwin do his thing but there are just too many idiots out there that they have to be taking out a few intelligent people who still have common sense.
How often does someone merge into your lane at the last second

Yup. You move over so they can merge on safely, and they still go out of their way to cut you off, make you slow down, and then speed up to about 80.NavigatorWife, redoctober83 and Nighthawk325 Thank this.

So passengers in a car, bus, train and taxi shouldn't be able to use there phone while moving?
-
Like I said. People have proved time and time again that they are stupid and irresponsible. The only way to prevent idiots from using their phones while driving is to not give them the option in the first place.
-
Touche. That's kind of an awesome point. I have an interesting theory. A few years ago Honda made a hat that could control parts of your car by thought... why can't they just make a hat that can control phones the same way. If you can turn your wipers on by thinking it, or adjust radio volume they should be able to modify it for phone usage. That would be sweet.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

The problem with your suggestion is that once again, it takes responsibility away from the individual. And that's the whole problem in a nutshell. Is there a solution?
Sure. Summary roadside execution. Cause a fatality, get a trial right on the roadside. DUI, texting, gets you automatic end of life. Terminated. Cease to function. Dead. Within 1 week, everything will change.
"But Six, my teenage daughter..."
Is YOUR responsibility. Want your kids to lead long, productive lives? You'd figure it out. Or you will bury your kid. Stop clamoring for new legislation. Stop looking to manufacturers to stupidproof your world.Chewy352 and crzyjarmans Thank this. -

Big cities is where you really have to be alert.People think they own it.Minneapolis is one of the worst I've experienced.Chicago is also bad but after so long driving you pretty much plan what a motorist will do and play defense.
Canned Spam and Pintlehook Thank this. -
both drivers, especially that first video, were NOT paying attention. had there been an accident or rollover someone i do believe would have died. if either driver were to have been sued (and i'm sure that WILL happen), i would hope the lose thier CDL for life, but sadly, that very well may not happen.
in regards to someone cutting me off...??
since i drive at night, it just doesn;t happen as often as it did during the daytime. -
What is this merge thing?
You mean when the 80,000 pound rig, speeds up or slows down,to let traffic, cut him off?
