But you are using your own fuel card, correct?

Ouch, why are you guys getting taken like that? Fuel for us is 1.70ish to 1.80ish all across Texas and most of the south. I haven't paid more than 1.90 a gallon in six months or so...

Not sure what in the yard at this moment. As far as older trucks, the fleet is pretty much '13 and newer on what you get from JCT now.

Basic rule is measure 10 ft from the rear to the center of the front trailer axle. That will be the max distance you will be allowed.

    MachoCyclone Thanks this.

A lot of the trailers have a red reflective tape over on of the holes. I have always been told that was the "California Hole". The reflective tape is on different holes depending on the make of the trailer. Although I tend to question the few that have the tape on the second hole. That doesn't seem right to me and of course now that I have a tape measure long enough to measure, I haven't had one of those trailers. I have never had any issues in Cali with the tandems set in that position. Some of the trailers don't have any marking what so ever and it is up to you to get the measurement right. Of course, you are the driver, so it is up to you to make sure it right anyway.

I always thought it was 40ft from kingpin to center of last axle of the tandem? I do understand measuring 10ft from the end of the trailer (if the kingpin is 3ft from the front), but wouldn't still be to the center of the last axle on the tandem.

I was just using the JCT trailer as example for the rule of thumb.
