microwave for the truck

    Fwiw, microwaves don't really have a low or medium power setting. They simply run at full power for a reduced duty cycle. Meaning on medium they might be on for 6 seconds then off for 4 seconds vs on high they simply run 100% of the time. A toaster oven is a different story. They actually have a selector that allows for some or all heating elements to be on at once. Still, small inverters are pretty much a bad idea. They just suck.

    Just make sure if you install the inverter to make solid connections at the battery. A 700 watt appliance is pulling almost 60 amps on the 12 volt side of the inverter. This is the reason most carriers have strict rules about inverters. Trucks can and do burn because of this!

    Yes sir, watts divided by volts = amps (Ohms law) + whatever the inverter "wastes" in heat (there are no perfect conversions). And don't forget an appropriately sized fusable link, and adequately sized power cable.
