I could have slept a family of four comfortably in the trunk of my 2000 Buick Park Avenue so I figured it wasn't one of those..

The store is pretty #######. I used to work in the factory and had access to it. Any kind of pasta cake mix rice cereal. Super duper cheap. Worked real well for me as a bachelor at the time.

You could make 50 cents/mile if you're not running youre just another trucker in the flying j restaurant telling cool stories.

I'm about to get hired by Gilster. I live only 20 minutes from Perryville. I have friends who have retired from there and loved working for them. But I must say as a person who has previously worked in the repair side of trucking... their trucks are pathetic. I drove for Maverick and never had a truck that was more than three years old. When Maverick would turn them over to you as a new driver, they've detailed them things to the point of making them look brand new... inside and out.
Gilster trucks are never clean looking outside, usually a disaster inside, and don't always run great. I must admit that it has me a bit concerned as I'm preparing to start with them.
Although they will run your ### off when you're running loads, Gilster is pretty flexible with their scheduling. As I had with Maverick, they have unpaid time off if you need it. You simply inform them in advance that you need a few days for ... whatever... and they will schedule you home and off for that time period.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

That probably means the drivers are well paid and happy with their jobs and the company has less money for new truck every year because they spend all their money on their drivers making them happy.
