The truck stops in Brasil are very small... the biggest ones can fit 30 trucks or so... there are no rest areas....

Hey... same here... this time company asked us to attend to a "conference meeting" over the phone... They kinda explained a little bit about the new plans and a few changes... and some folks asked some questions... Then, we will go to a website, register and answer a bunch of questions, blah, blah, blah... health insurance got more expensive... I never had it before Obamacare... :biggrin_25512:

I always had health insurance through my employers.... never went to the expense of buying Cobra coverage between gigs though. When I started doing the self-employed stuff, I carried my own policy. Ya just never know when you're going to need it, and before Obamacare there wasn't any coverage for preexisting conditions.

Hey... finally I got to the "end" of the postings... way past my bed time... but considering I am taking my 34 and can wake up late...

No... I never drove trucks in Brasil.... My boy-friend and I lived on the road for almost a year, hitchhiking with whoever would give us a ride in the direction we were going... We rode with truck drivers a lot... We were both very young... he was still a teenager.... we carried small back packs with pliers and wires and beads to make rings and earrings and such to sell on the streets, sitting on the sidewalk... or on public squares... that was in the early 80's...
Eventually I built my own jewelry workshop and had booths in several places in Rio... But then, stopped making the jewelry and started buying wholesale from artisans in Sao Paulo and Rio and selling to the public for much more profit. :yes2557:
Back in the 80's, I never... NEVER encountered a female truck driver in Brasil... There are some nowadays but maybe 1%

I was lucky enough to never need any major medical care in America... Whatever minor medical care I needed here, before Obamacare, I paid with cash... And whenever I went to Brasil, I would have a thorough physical, visit specialists and take all kinds of exams... including MRIs, echocardiograms, etc, etc, etc... When mom was alive, I was included in their private family medical plan in Brasil... after she passed away, I would pay with cash... but still 100 times cheaper than in America... :yes2557: I LOVE the dental care in Brasil...

One time I was a passenger in a car... we were behind of a truck carrying piles of bricks... it was something like this..

and there weren't many straps securing the load of bricks...
We were all going fast and following too close... on a two way narrow undivided road... :biggrin_2554: I didn't feel comfortable with that... :biggrin_2552: Told driver of vehicle to slow down and back off... We could get pretty hurt if for some reason we rear ended that truck and those bricks fell on us... :biggrin_2552: Driver thought I was a wimp... :biggrin_2552:
