I have seen them, and they do get quite warm. Even saw a pair burst into flames. That was not a desirable result!

I wonder if they can crack a windshield like the defroster on cold winter morning?

A windshield cracks from an existing crack already present, then with the thermal differential of cold versus hot, the crack propagates. Windshields do not crack simply by applying the defroster to a cold, crack free windshield.

The same science would apply to a heated wiper. No, it would not crack a windshield in a cold morning, so long as the windshield was already crack free.

You can get a washer fluid heater for less money, should work pretty good, some high end cars have them.

that won't stop ice from forming on the wipers, that's the issue.
Once the wipers becomes Popsicles it doesn't do crap

Just ordered a set of the Thermalblades for my Pete. After I get them installed and have the joy of running through another Colorado snow storm, I'll give an update. Reaching out and banging the wipers used to work fine before I had this 387 where I'd have to have spider monkey arms to reach the dang windshield.

I installed aftermarket heated blades on my new 4070A in 1973.
