    Camping at the Jeffville Ohya TA for the night. I think I'll wander in for my Popeyes fix in a minute. I'll be trying for an early start, but wouldn't bet too much on it.

    I was thru there last night. 901 from not pottsville up 54 to catch 80 in Danville. Actually not bad once you get a chance to see worse. One of my first rides on PA back roads was 28 from Brookville to Kittaning. At 0300. And it was foggy. It was a slow trip. Faster on subsequent trips.

    I'm probably the wrong person to offer an opinion on little pickups. My smarter half had a 4 cyl Ranger when we got together in '97. She had bought it new, and it was a nice truck for a Ranger. It just never grew on me. Mainly because it was gutless and cramped. And no inline four ever, except for the GM 2.2L quad 4, had enough kick to make a toenail print in styrofoam.

    My preference is at the other end of the spectrum. Something you need to look a 1/2 mile ahead to see what you're gonna run into when the boost comes on.

    I think it was about the mid '80's, although there's still a few around that didn't have the good sense to retire and haven't died yet. Did you know NAPA parts guys can't look up parts for anything older than a 1980? It's always an adventure ordering parts for my old iron. But seriously, points and condenser for a flathead v8? It the same parts that fit about 30 years worth. Yes, I had to make the kid get the paper catalog out so I could look it up for him, since the web browser on his workstation wouldn't accept a 1950 Ford coupe in the pull down menu.

    I was telling my wife about one that was wrapped up on the guard rail of the 390 ramp toward the airport in Rochester. Her response: "I thought they knew how to drive in that up there." I LOLed.

    Just enough snowflakes to make a few icy patches, and not enough salt shakers thru there yet at 0300.

    @RedForeman

    I've heard you can strap a turbo into one of these engines..god knows there's a ton of room inside it. Couple other modifications can be made to help boost up the power in one of those. But to me, I don't have to be thrown back in the seat. Just get me the hell out of a situation when I punch the pedals.

    As for get up and go, as PackRat said, it won't win any races. But the needed pull is there. I'm more of a fan of inline engines anyways, they don't wear out as easy and their thing is torque.

    Took the new truck on the interstate and ran 70. She did it like it was just another speed. The old one started to breathe heavy and complain about 66.

    What I don't get...the dealer told me that the guy who traded it in wanted a Fiat. What?!
    How? "Fix it again tony!"

    Isn't that kind of trade against your man card?

    Oh...I had to do it... I got a chance to talk to the owner of the dealer. How I found out about the Colorado for fiat trade... I had to do it...

    Right in front of everyone... I said to him, "fix it again tony!" He glared at me...

    "Allow me to correct you... Fantastic innovation of automotive technology."

    I learned to play with fire as a kid... "That's cool. Even ford claims they are first on race day."

    His employees were getting a kick out of it...but the owner was not happy.

    I'm a terrible person.
