I am applying for a regional bulk position with Schneider. I got a speeding ticket in like the first little town in VA when coming into VA on I85 in like 2008. I was going 80 even in a 70 along with other vehicles that were working with me, i was following. But, I paid the ticket because it was so far away from GA. I just got my Background check back and that was classified as a reckless driving. I already have a job offer, just wondering how that could affect things before my orientation at Schneider and if I should pursue get that remedied since it wasn't 15 or 20 over. Every correspondence i had with them, since they lost my first check and I had to send two, indicated speeding 80 in 70 zone.

depends entirely on how the driving record question was asked, i.e. how far back they wantd to know. Soemthing 7 yrs old shouldnt be an issue , but as long as you listed the ticket and/or disclosed during phone interview it shouldnt affect you.
By this time it has dropped off your points record and insurance isnt dinging I would hope.
What the state classified it as is one thing, SNI would see that as excessive only I would think. I had one that was not quite as old (2007, I was hired in 2011) that was 15 over and a following too close. It wasnt an issue.gentleroger and BayouBlue Thank this. -
They only asked for 5 years on application, I completely forgot about it until the background check, I was just very surprised, not what I expected to see there. It was more of a "whoaa, where did that come from" I had to go figure it out.

Point is though , you answered the question that was asked,. -

Thanks, I did some research on the subject, Virginia can give you a reckless driving at certain MPH rather than so many over the speed limit, so theoretically, if the speed limit is 75, they can still give you a reckless at 80. Virginia, never ceases to surprise me.

A vet trucker always made a valid point about speeding.
Said there's really no point to it unless you're thrill seeking or it's an emergency. You're gonna end up waiting no matter where you're headed and you're only getting there 10 minutes ahead of those doing the limit and if that makes a difference then you're horrible at managing time.
No shot at you OP but he has a point.bad attitude 75 Thanks this.
