I have noticed. There are too many steering wheel holders who will not get out of the center lane for any reason whatsoever.
why are trucks driving in the middle lane(s)?

To Tama Mai Hawaii: So well said. Exactly my reasons also.
xlsdraw Thanks this. -
Let me open by saying I've driven everything from 62MPH up to triple digit trucks. Maybe I'm the only one but I don't get all bent out of shape if I see a Prime truck in the middle lane. We all know why he is there in any major city. We have 2+ other lanes to choose from to get around them. So why the fuss? Just kick back relax grab an opening and blow on by. I think a majority of this griping comes from either 4wheelers wanting to do 90 in a 60 and holy balls how dare a truck get in their way, as well as 65 mph truck drivers upset they have to give up 3mph to wait for an opening for 15secs. Imagine how much worse it would be getting on to a highway if every truck were nuts to butts in the right lane. Nothing is so important that we should be risking major wrecks just to make traffic flow slight smoother. It will really be late if a Swift truck shuts down the highway after running over a BMW.

And often BMWs make it easy to run them over.

Mainly the trucks run the center lane because people that commute to work can not find the throttle for some reason. They don't pay attention to the traffic on the interstate and adjust their speed accordingly. They actually EXPECT you to move over for them. They get really upset if you do not yield to them. Even though they can not see the MG on the other side of you preventing you from moving over. I have let off the throttle to give the traffic merging some room and even applied the brakes and then..... the car that is merging is putting on the brakes instead of the throttle. That pisses me off, I slowed down for nothing. Then they get mad at me for their stupidity.
Here is a little hint for the 4 wheelers..... If you cannot find the throttle then you #### well be able to find the brake.jammer910Z and xlsdraw Thank this. -
Totally agree with most points being brought up here.I too use middle or second from the right lane when passing thru cities.I do it mainly because I already had some close calls with 4 wheelers drivers trying to kill themselves under the wheels of my truck.I also think I am doing everybody a favor because the sooner I will be out of town the better and safer for everybody interested. Some of 4 wheeler drivers as well as some truck drivers are plain ######## though driving in a middle lane slower than than the traffic in the right lane.I drive in middle lane but will always move over if safe for a truck behind me if I see him going faster than me.I won't do it for a 4 wheeler though as they have left lane which I most often cannot use.

If your in a hurry, jump in the hammer lane, and be a front door!
I see lots of cars in the hammer lane, hanging around,in my blind spot.
Hammer down Mario Andretti! -
I've noticed a few too many of those CA trucks will set the cruise at 50 in the middle lane and diddle with the cell phone. Weaving around in the lane without a care in the world.

Riding the center in heavy merge areas is the safe thing to do... I agree , and have little to no problem with, as I do it myself as long as faster truck traffic is not needing by.
Likely , the OP was referring to the bone heads that cruise that lane out in BFE running 60 in a 70 and won't do the courteous act of , or obeying the posted state MANDATE of slower traffic keep right. They let truck traffic build up behind them with an IDGAF attitude forcing a right side pass.
