Exactly. Maybe it's a generational thing. Cell phones weren't given to kids when I was younger, so the addiction never developed.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 25, 2015

I fail to see how bad planning on someone else's part should constitute an emergency on my part, especially to the point of having to basically sleep with one eye open like I'm with the volunteer fire department on my hometime.
Who needs that? -
All you need is 6 months to get on with JB. I'll train you personally. Send me a PM if interested.
-
So like many of my friends, I gave up my land line years ago....no need to have it, all calls goes directly to android's voicemail or text. I choose whether or not to pick up a call. It's not a big deal if they call.
Oh and BTW, I have never been fired for refusing a load... -
This is true but I think the OP was referring to a 10 hr break and not hometime.
-
If you're home on your 10 hour break, then they're the same animal as far as I'm concerned.Lonesome Thanks this.

I usually get some sleep on my 10, not wait for the phone to ring. Are you serious?
-
Yes, or I wouldn't have mentioned it. If you're trying to be funny, I'm not laughing.
Anyhow, I personally will not work for any company that demands that I be "on call" on my personal phone like the OP's outfit apparently did. I'm sure such crapola also goes on during 10 hour breaks.
Not in my house it won't.bottomdumpin and Lonesome Thank this. -
I am usually serious as a heart attack. I worked at a company that was all screwed up with their dispatches. Local job. I would get home at 5am to go back around 3pm. They would call me at all different times and tell me what time to come in. Obviously I didn't stay there very long. The fact is if I cannot get sleep therefore I am not going to be safe driving all night. Not arguing with you. Just saying I would not tolerate it.
