agreed, when driving in the city, drivers should be aware of traffic lights, if its been green for sometime, they should be preparing for it to change and start to slow the truck

I did a bit of research on RLC's and what I found is that if they are set up properly they will only trigger if you cross the stop line after the light actually turns red. If you try to jump the light and roll forward while the light is still red you will trigger the camera. On the other side if you cross the line under a yellow the camera won't go off. In Hannibal an officer reviews all tickets. I watched a car roll forward across the stop line and sure enough, off went the camera. I wonder if the driver realized that legally he had just run the red light.

Every red light camera I have seen is on the right hand corner of the intersection at which point you would drive through. Camera only takes pictures of a rear license plate. Several times in DFW area I was hit by a specific red light camera and was sent tickets. Every time I sent a letter in and the ticket was dropped. Personal vehicle though, they have no proof of who was driving and you have a right to face your acuser. A camera is not an acuser.
If you are worried about them in a CMV, prepare to stop if its a "stale green" dont speed up, slow down and prepare to stop.
Red light cameras are never adjusted "properly" they only exist for one reason REVENUE. They do not put them there saying they will stop accidents they do it for the $$ so they purposely set them up wrong and cash in on the people who automatically send them the $$. -
If you have driven a commercial vehicle for any amount of time, you have been caught at a light with a decision to be made. And if truthful, will admit you have in fact made a decision that left you wondering if you made the light in time. The fact is lights have different timing. If the road surface is less than cooperative, it is better to continue thru the light in a straight and forward motion than side ways and less than a straight and forward manner. If you haven't, you will be in that situation regardless of your prudence to proper and thoughtful driving. Hopefully it will turn out in your favor regardless of the condemnation your views of others shows.

I've never had an issue with red light cameras. What has bedeviled me is getting toll road toll tickets in the mail. I have had three all from the same place. On US 412 in eastern Oklahoma on that part that is a toll road. There is no human toll taker late at night, thus no receipts. The first time I did this I went right to safety and told them. I never got into trouble for this, but it was nevertheless frustrating.
