To say that you can go lower because your expenses are lower... that's cutting off your nose to spite your face.
You're denying yourself that former payment. You have a new truck payment now... you're just paying a different ferryman... the broker.
Sounds like someone needs to step up their salesman techniques, and stop blaming the trends. Everyone knows there is good paying freight out there... it just takes homework and legwork to get it.Pork Chop Express and highwayman Thank this. -
Cheap freight is simply undercutting what you could/should get for more. Like I said, lowering your rate, in place of your former truck payment, is just paying a different master. Is that something to celebrate once you've made your last payment? Going deeper into the gutter?Pork Chop Express Thanks this.

I agree that you want to make more money but at the end of the day it's all about being in the black one way or another. I'd rather haul frieght that you think is cheap as long as I'm profitable instead of waiting for a good load that may not show. Even if the truck is paid for you still have fixed expenses regardless I'd there for the business or for home. So if i can haul it and make a profit I will. Point plan and simple. But here isn't a place to debate this. It is what it is, people out there haul in the black on low paying loads while others sit for the money load. It's 2 types of trucking and you can fail in both.

Well I found a 2012 Cascadia with 422k miles on it, very nice truck, the cummins ran strong, it has an APU that works. But it will take several days for them to get it inspected and road ready, so I'm going to do some local work while I wait.

Most of the new trucks are gone, so u have to look long and hard to find a nice used trk, cold and snow here.

How are you going to do local work if the truck is in the shop?
