It's not that English is a foreign language, it's that mathematics is an unknown subject.

I love going up to them and saying доброе утро (Good Morning in Russian) to them. You kinda get that blank, deer in the headlights stare. I used to have a t-shirt that said "Two wrongs don't make a right, two illegal aliens don't make a U.S. citizen"... I wore it into a sweat shop in Chicago one day, the supervisor saw it and told me to go wait in my truck. I was loaded and out of there in 15 minutes. :)

Well it appears I p/o'd dispatch... again. First thing they said this morning was "Why are you late?". I replied I wasn't. When I got the pre-assign around noon I said I couldn't deliver until 1600. When I got the dispatch at 1300 I told 'em 1400. When I got the load at midnight I told 'em 1400 and then called in to have the time ok'd by the customer before I shut it down for the night. I asked them why they didn't get it approved or changed until after I loaded... hmmmm... they didn't like that...LOL. I told 'em to take my next one off too as this truck ain't going over a thousand miles in under 24 hours, and to only assign solo freight for the rest of the month. One of these days they'll get it through their thick heads that I run a TRAINING truck, not a TEAM truck. If I'm sleeping, I ain't teaching and vice verse. Besides, the PA pike was posted 30MPH last night for the fog... if it ain't really gotta be there, no point in dangerous driving. We passed a OOpPS and 4 wheeler mating site as we left out around 6ish... they had the left lane tied up... the car was pretty mangled except for the passenger compartment... a change of underwear and I think the driver will be okay. This is my students first day pulling 42000# in mountains :) We're having fun... and a zantac ;) God, I Love this job! :) Be safe out there, folks.

After a few days of irregular sleep, I think I'm finally getting back on track. I slept like the dead 2 hrs while getting loaded last night. Didn't even feel them ramming product into the trailer nascar style. Bounced down to White's, where I'm enjoying a decadent late start with no real rush. Bout time to put on the rain coat and walk the mutt, then towel her off and go walk myself. Then maybe drive a while.

I don't see sleight of hand there, just terminology. I pay on percentage. When discussing pay, I'll say "gross revenue" which is the total of invoices from which the percentage is figured against. Nothing sneaky as the driver sees the rate confirmation upon dispatch (usually negotiated themself) and can see actual invoices any time.

If I were doing this with an oo, I'd likely have "gross revenue" as above, then also "gross to the truck" which would be your top line number before fuel or other deducts, getting to "net to the truck."

As I say with 1099 vs W2 arguments, don't get wrapped up too tight about how the money gets to you. Worry more that it's enough and you're profitable. If they're doing it to make it seem like you're doing better than you are, the only crime here is you're too smart to believe it.

I was wondering that as well... only had 2 pages to look at this morning ... o_O

I failed at my goal .. hit the snooze button, and then accidentally turned the alarm all the way off .... woke up at 7:29 ...

So far this morning, getting bombarded with drivers wanting to know 1. Why I'm not dispatching the road loads in the dispatcher's absence; 2. Why I've not yet applied to be the 2nd dispatcher for it; 3. Why there is no work this week.

    1. Not my job, though I never turn down the opportunity to fill in for someone here if needed, and will do it if asked / did offer once I remembered she was out.
    2. I learned my lesson. No. o_O
    3. I'm not the scheduler anymore... but we are busier next week? Tell the scheduler to stop aggravating customers.

Even my manager asked me why I'm not dispatching this morning when I went to give him a list of drivers to call back. I said alright, I'll have it done in 5 minutes, but I'm still not so sure about taking it on. If it were JUST me doing it, maybe. But the whole "sharing of duties" crap turns into blame game central around here when stuff goes wrong, and I don't have the patience and doubt they have the money to make me put up with that.:mad: Though if I end up having to find somewhere else to live, I might need a raise

I did go in there, give him the list of drivers that haven't worked Tues or Wed, what they need to be on (pretty much what they like to do out of what's available on the list), and said let me know if you need me. Mr. Driver is reallll glad he started playing nice again this week ... ;) He was about to sit for yet another day if I didn't step in :p
