So the total amount paid for the lease after the 5years is $254,540.00 not including the $2,500.00 buy out. All of which is tax deductible. Would buying the truck be cheaper?

About atleast $60,000 cheaper IMO. Closer to 80 or 100 id think if you had decent down payment

If you look at any peterbuilt dealer right now and get a quote here's what you get

Amount : 160,000 (new, ball park)
    Down payment : 30,000
    Apr %: 8% ( if u have great credit)
    Term: 60 months
    Payment: 2636.00 a month

So while yes it is a small amount cheaper this way it's no where near what many think it is or the nay sayers on leaseing trucks say.. seems they forget the intrest that's paid on there's as well.

I like how the lease purchase guys try to justify how its better then doing the work getting good credit and saving up for a down payment . Then come back crying how the company screwed them or the dispatcher screwed them etc etc etc. LOL. Very entertaining

Gotta be Nuts to do a L/P with any Carrier. And at that low rate/ high weekly costs, it's just insanely crazy to do so. I run Company and averaged $1200-$1400/wk. Why Lease when you can make the same money without the worries? Either route, you're still just a Company Driver and nothing more. 98% will never own the Truck they're Paying to Operate for the Company.

Never lease purchase.Never lease purchase. NEVER LEASE PURCHASE. Unless your just a total #######. Then by all means go ahead.
If you can't buy a truck the right way. Then YOU SHOULD NOT OWN ONE. And fact is you never will.
