Hi i live in the suburbs of PA 45 minutes north of Philly in Bucks County. I have done a ton of research on companies to start out with to drive OTR and everyone i read about has good and bad reviews. I read various forums and even google search reviews on companies.
I have two in mind right now Schneider and Knight. I have read a ton of horrible stuff about CR England, Swift and Werner so i will stay away from them. My choice of Knight is a recent one because of a guy on youtube that works for them puts up a lot of videos. He is less then six months in and consistantly making close to a grand or more NET each week. But he is out of a terminal in the midwest.
Knight has a terminal in Carlise PA but i read some bad reviews about that terminal.
I'm so sick of researching. Honestly lots of people will laugh but even worse case scenario i clear $500 net a week i will be OK not happy but OK for starting out. I'm single, no kids, no debt and can stay out on the road for a long time without going home.
With that said what company would you recommend and why? thank you
Best company to start with in Pennsylvania?

Just pick one. Start getting experience, get all your endorsements and move upward in the industry.
austinmike and Puppage Thank this. -
Pretty much roll the dice and pick one get your experience then move on to a smaller company me personally if I had a gun to my head and had to pick a mega probably go with schneider

Try Deka. The battery mfgr. They own their own fleet. I don't know your experience or what their requirements to hire are but I have a friend that used to be a one truck one trailer operation and now is a company driver for them. I am thinking he said its about a 72-75k annual job home every week etc.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Shaffer is an option, They are also in Carlisle, Roehl has a yard in Bensalem also.

National Carriers - West Coast runs & Apu's,
Freymiller - West Coast runs & has Apu's.
Abilene Motor Express - West Coast runs.
These companies do hire new CDL grads. Websites may have "experience required" but that's no longer a requirement.
In my opinion these are probably the 3 best for new CDL grads that want long haul refrigerated trucking.
Do the online apps and see what response you get. Choose one and hit the road.Last edited: Dec 5, 2015

Being so close to Philadelphia, there is probably a lot of intermodle work. I drove for Schneider years a go and they did have a small terminal near Philly.

Crete/Shaffer in New Kingston.

1278PA, Did you just get your CDL or do you have some experience?
