there will still be the issue of finding someone to do the work for you. i have looked at many trucks for sale in the 1998-2005 range that have the engine and transmission i want. the key seems to be finding a custom shop that is capable of doing the work some where near your home. the best looking shop i have found is in Oregon. for this type of build i wouldnt trust just anyone.
Can you buy a reverse glider?

Take a look at the used truck market. Million mile Pete's and KW's that are pre-dpf bring that money every day.
Do a search on Truckpaper for Pete 379exhd's, set the minimum price at $60k and see what's out there. -
They would have a market if they took the time to ADVERTISE THEIR PRODUCT if they weren't so busy shoving Cascadia and Coronado models down everyone's throats.

how would i do a good suspension check? just drive it?

Shows many Petes in that year between 35,000-40,000
There are some in the much higher range, just not needed to pay that, if you shop aroundHardRoc Thanks this. -
You can find these all day long. Would I spend that kind of money for an older truck, probably not.
