At fort hood follow signs to truck gate, on west end, get in line, when you get under tent shed they will want DL and open all doors an hood, probably put you in a bull pen until they check you out. Hard part is finding where you unload after they let you in.

If your going to rrad you pull in the lot and take you bills and truck papers to the office make sure your insurance card is good. If you have a TWIC card it will save you one part of the processing, take no pictures. I witnessed a guy taking pictures an he did not enjoy the outcome.

Ft Bragg is the only base ive been to where you show TWIC and your home free....no 3rd degree,etc......

Any other base...3rd degree...worst is the submarine base in Kingsland,Ga.

I was in Ft Hood with an oversize several years ago. Just make sure to follow the signs for trucks. No problem getting in with just DL. Like the others are saying the hardest part is knowing where to go once you're in. I ended up having to go through construction and knocked down a bunch of cones but otherwise it was easy.

Kings bay is the worst I've been to as well. Rotten Groton is easy compared to them. In KB's defense, I did park on the dock next to a big black thing that splits atoms.
OP, TWIC cards used to expedite entry, but that went away after the Norfolk shooter.

You know what was scary at Kings Bay.....some of the contractors crossed somewhere where they weren't suppose to be, and to hear the message over the real loud speakers or wherever it came from....more or less said deadly force is authorized blah blah blah......

I do the Groton sub base here all the time. Just do what they ask you will be fine. The shore patrol does warn you though if you deviate in any way from where your supposed to be at they will hunt you down and take you out

Was just at Rhode Island naval base. Gotta have a clean background check and registration and insurance up to date .must have originals no copies! Have all contact names and numbers even tho everytime I went into the pass office they have no clue who my contact there is or where I'm supposed to go.make sure your contact call the pass office. Even tho Noone cares in the pass office. A twic card will get you thru security faster but not all the time. I've been waived right thru and longest wait over 5 hours...wait in your truck at the gate don't get out until your next. Expect many confused faces when you ask for directions they could care less about why you are there. I was cleared to go thru the gate one time and the guard didn't open the gate I waited until "after lunch" 45mins later

We had a contractor spend over 45 days in jail over a civil war era ball and flint (or is it called muzzleloader?)handgun that was in his trailer side box. He was finally releasedwith no charges, but cost thousands in attorney fees and a fortune to the impound lot for storage fees. And to top it off, he never got that gun back.

Funny thing is, if he had just told them at the gate before the truck search all they wouldfof done is refuse him entry. But he didn't want to lose the load so tried to sneak through.
