2 calls threatening with a lawyer to freightliner? Maybe that's what I should do. Freightliner and plenty other dealers of big trucks (and cars too) are committing fraud! I bought my truck, all cash $70,000 back in July. As soon as it got delivered, the engine light came on..... I took it to a local shop to have it checked out. Codes were for all injectors... Mechanic said the truck ran good and he said it may be a dirty harness or something.

Fast forward a month or so later and my truck was stolen. Once recovered, I had them tow it to the LA Freightliner I purchased the truck at. Insurance paid for everything that was taken. When I went to pick it up, engine lights were flashing and I had them check it out to see was anything related to theft. Nope. Instead, they came back with an $8,000 bill for egr cooler, ecm, and a few other things. Pissed me off because I know these problems were already associated with the truck when I bought it.

Now I no they are sold "As is" but when you erase codes on a truck (because you know no one is going to buy a truck with engine lights on) that's considered fraud!

So i am thinking of sueing the crooks!

Man thats rough. I had contacted Freightliner first and they blew off the issue than called a law firm who believed I had a case. Then they emailed me back explaining what had happened. Im sure they turned around and threatened the shippers of the truck after they sent my check. Cold World. Good luck

It all comes down to luck of the draw I suppose. A guy I used to work with bought a $17000 million mile Century Class 3 years ago. He has done absolutely nothing to it since except oil changes and used tires. Its falling apart but at this point hes saved enough money to cover any repair. Crazy

Really crazy! I considered spending the money up front would rid me of some issues but I see that's not true... Now it makes me feel like I should've got a new truck with a note.... At least it would be under warranty... And I could just trade it in like the big companies do when it started giving problems... You live and learn for sure... I've read that it is fraudulent for them to erase codes. You and I know, if a truck with 448,000 miles had a engine light on when purchased, we wouldn't want that truck. I should've taken it back the day it was delivered... The light came on as soon as we made it to the drop off point. I will be calling a lawyer to see if there is anything I can do about it now... I got it in July, but it was stolen in September. I just got it back a couple of weeks ago... And even after $8,000 fix, the light came back on within 200 miles of my first trip... It's pretty sickening...

Starting a business with an unknown 700k mile unit sounds terrifying. Nice job, for making it work out. Running a volvo motor?
