Yes, it's so true...so get the app(s) for whichever place(s) you prefer to fuel...and then you pop in the areas that you're heading into. This is where trip planning really pays off...15-30 minutes just on fueling before you go will pay off big time. Along the way you buy just enough to get to the next one...then buy enough again...assuming it's lower than the first place you bought fuel...if it's not, then you didn't buy enough the first time...to get to the third place, where it's cheapest! Then you load it to the gills.

Example...if you're heading east from Houston, TX to FL for example, along I-10, with 1/2 a tank...you run until you get across TX to LA...where you buy 50 gals., or enough to get you to exit 4 in AL..(I'm using the TA/Petro concept here, wherein there aren't any in MS along the way, on I-10 I believe)...where it's another nickel cheaper than LA...then you fill up. Always buying the minimum necessary to get to the cheapest Petro/TA (or whichever your preference is) along your route..where you go nuts! :) A pain? Yes. But this will add thousands in your pocket at the end of the year. Then once you're empty in FL and going to head north...try not to buy fuel again until you get into GA...or if you're really lucky and going to go through SC...just buy the minimums necessary until you get into the Palmetto State...then fill that baby again. Also, don't worry about payroll cutoff dates and taking as much home as possible necessarily on any given week by not fueling in the cheapest states. In the long run, your bottom line will increase if you apply this logic...

Old news? Yes. But practicing it is a discipline...among the many required...to be a successful Owner/Op...which is the goal, right?

Makes perfect sense. I choose to do the less pita version which definitely nets me less. The definition of successful varies from person to person. Some would say if you're not grossing 2000 a week as an o/o, you're failing, read schneider Sucess is a relative term, correct? Obviously. I wasn't being facetious. But, we are Lease not o/o.

And the goal as a lease op is to become an o/o eventually, I think. It may vary from person to person.
