Always good to know what it costs going into and getting back out of the northeast. I did a load that was a real eye opener in that regard a couple of months ago delivering to Long Island from TN. I went up 95 from DC up to Delaware Memorial bridge then mostly 295 to save on tolls. Got my drop delivered in Jersey then 2 more on the island and back out to Carlisle, PA area for a reload. It cost me a little over $300 in tolls. I think it was $100 at 9am to cross the GW. Would have to find the receipt.
For what those kind of dry van spot loads seem to be paying going up there for the most part I don't know how anyone can go up there for $2 or even $3 a mile and it be worth the trouble. Mine was paying over $4 a mile and with the reload back south I felt as though I got out by the skin of my teeth. You know once or twice, maybe 3 times a year, one of those brokers will really dig deep to send a van load up there. I often wonder who these trucks are going up there getting eaten alive on tolls and working for free. I guess they just laugh at me with their low cost of operation or something?
$105 into New York

I had a pretty good deal at one time going up there, the North.
Pick up trash in NY or DE and bring it back to Virginia. Well no one really wanted to haul that stuff, but that freight dried up too. Even paying over $100 in tolls to get back home was an ok way of life.
I guess the 44 cent per mile truck drivers, well I guess the tolls don't effect them much. -
Ya it was a little farther back than that. I'm glad my memory is foggy cause I really don't want to know exactly when it went up from 20

It was still 20 in 95. I remember paying an even twenty, and I didn't start driving farther than my dad was willing to come get the truck out of jail till 95.
