I gave a dude 5 bucks after watching him rummage around in a dumpster looking for something to eat in downtown Austin. Don't know what he bought with it and don't care.
I rarely give anybody any money but once in a while...

If she is a little on the chubby side with fair skin/hair then I know who you are talking about. Was there the one time I stopped in Indy this year back in April/May. I try to avoid the big city truck stops as those are usually where the pan handlers/prostitutes/druggies like to congregate.

Too many times these panhandlers are not run off by the truck stops, or security. They make up so many different stories to tell, thinking we are idiots. I remember in Houston. Loop 610 Whataburger parking lot. Gentleman came up asking for a dollar for a pack of hot dogs, as he was just out of jail. The next night same place same guy same story. Amazing how these people can try to "con" people out of their hard earned money, because they are to ,lazy to work.

There is a guy that is always in the parking lot of a local WalMart in Orlando who I notice always has a fresh shave and haircut.

Amazing at how many people would rather panhandle than get a real job. I to have seen this in many years of driving. Sometimes they'll even bring their children, and wives. So they can give the illusion of a poor family

Besides irate truckers, I have yet to be approached by anyone at a truck stop. I don't carry cash, so problem solved. Plus I pay taxes so that people can get assistance if they are broke or homeless.
dog-c Thanks this. -
I was mugged in NYC many times, so its a reason I carry little cash as possible.
I've been approached by bums at truckstops, when in reality, I was barely scraping by at .25 cpm my first year with swift. I had no money to give and I was frequently met with consternation and stares when I said 'get a job' or when I reversed the question ' do you have a dollar to spare bro?'
