DO NOT Choose Werner!! I drove for them for a year. Ive heard that once you get past your first year it gets better but that first year is HELL! Live in the NW, was kept on east coast most of the time, doing short runs, lots of deadhead, and unable to get home for hometime. I CAN say that getting the training with the RIGHT trainer was priceless. Not all of their trainers are worth a ####, so be very careful, ask how long they have been driving because they let drivers start to train after only 6 months experience on the road. Not a good scenario. However, they do have some excellent trainers, I had one.
Signs of a bad company.

yup, if you were to sell your car, you have to build up all the wonderfull roses. Just like the recruiter. Talk to a few company driver, will tell little bit different. Practice on backing, where most beginner have problem with. Know your point A to B well in advance before you head there, will help a lot. U do ok, just slow down. Hopefully they don't send you to Brooklyn, NY , Downtown Chicago. with those low bridges. But again, this is why you have to know exactly how to get there. Can save you a whole lot of trouble.

Yeah I figured that out after hearing how long their training is and that it's "team" driving essentially. No thanks. All the other companies I looked at had long training periods. Which isn't the issue because getting the experience is what I need but most of these bottom barrel companies seem like a waste of time. I checked out Swift, Werner, Schneider, Knight, and Navajo (probably would have been good this one). Two others had contracts (Roehl and Jim Palmer) which I didn't feel comfortable doing because I already owe a loan for the CDL school.
Most others would not take me due to gaps in work or no experience. So I am looking at Western Express for now. Just get like 6 months in and head over to Interstate or Freymiller. Only thing that has got me worried is this DAC stuff. I keep reading they will lie on your DAC if they don't like you or they disagree with you? I want to run safe above all else.Last edited: Dec 11, 2015

Don't worry too much about HireRight/DAC.
A lot of good companies out there which will hire experienced drivers, and don't give a rat's butt about or look at DAC report.Lightside Thanks this. -
Sign of a bad company. If you drive a truck and have to sign up for welfare. It's a bad company, if ever been kicked out of a truck stop for looking like your a homeless bum. It's a bad company. If you call in for help with problems on loads or truck. And all you get is a busy signal. It is a bad company. If you have to make an appointment to have truck worked on at the company shop. It's a bad company. If your teenage kids part time McDonalds check is bigger then yours. It's a bad company. If you have to work on a company truck because they won't. It's a bad company.

If your dog moves in with neighbors and takes the cat with him. And the both growl, bite you when you go get them. It's a bad company. If instead of a check. You get an iou. It's a bad company. If your wife move in with the homeless guy down the street. And then growls, bites, and scratches you when get her. It's a bad company.

How does someone move in with a HOMELESS GUY ?

He's right Sherm. Telling a company to pound sand is better than putting a wreck on your record

That month of training might save you life someday or maybe just your CSA. If you have a good trainer you could pick his brain for out of the ordinary things. BTW- Training is for life. You never stop learning. I see morons out there in 4-wheelers AND big trucks.Voodoo Pyg Thanks this.
