This is stupid BS. Dispatch for this load to Leprino in Allendale, Mi says to be here at 0300. I get here at 0300 only to find out that they don't start receiving til 0700. WTF!!!

Ok. I vented. I feel better.

    EDIT:

Nevermind. Turned out that the receiving guy was on a lunch break. But, they do normally start at 0700

Anything scanned by midnight Thursday night/Friday am will be on the following settlement day on Wednesday. If you need to late trip, you have until Sunday night at midnight, but you MUST request the late trip BEFORE 1700 Friday

I don't agree with that 100% and here is why. No matter what, you're going to burn diesel (driving, idling, APU). ALWAYS burn the cheapest diesel possible. So if you come across dirty cheap diesel, top it off. Sure, that may cut into the profits of that trip, but you will be that much ahead on the next trip because you may not need to buy any fuel at all to complete that next trip. Now if you're living paycheck to paycheck that may not work for you, but it is crucial you get ahead at least a week or part of one.
The only time you don't fill up your tanks is if fuel further down the road is cheaper, then only buy enough to get you to that cheaper fuel.

That was how I ended up with a 4500 mile pay period. Scanned one in late Thursday thinking JCT will get it Friday and it would be on the following settlement. Was surprised to see it on the list of trips to be paid message Friday morning.

I felt like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone yesterday. I got to Tyson in Logansport, IN to pick a four stop load going Utah, Washington, and Oregon. I got there 12 hours before the drop time and the load was ready. I hook to the trailer and go get the bills. It's only weighs 31k. I had to ask the guard are you sure you printed the right bills and I check the bills three times to be sure I had the right ones for each stop.
