Hey guys I'm currently in training with a starter company and today I recived a written warning from a IL cop for running a red light. Long story short I was setting up to make a left and when I approached the intersection the light was green but changed red on me and unbeknownst to me I ran the light. Completely my fault.

My question is will this seriously affect my employability down the road just in case I want to leave the current company? What about consequences with the current company? I'm going to report the incident to our main office and the cop also did a "vehicle inspection" while he has me stopped so I know this is going on my CSA.

Any words of wisdom appricated. I, pretty bummed about this whole thing. TIA.

Did the cop give you a DOT inspection form that you have to send to your company?

If that's the only thing you have, you should be fine. Just be more careful, okay?

Written warnings will not affect your MVR. The trooper was actually being nice and sparing you 2 or 3 point ticket and a few hundred dollars by writing you a warning. You do not have to tell your company you got a warning. As far as the vehicle inspection, you still have to turn it in and have it signed off by someone in your safety dept. Did you get any violations on your vehicle report?

I approach every turn as if it's a red light. You just have to slow down so much that I think the majority of the time it's gunna change on you.

I had to report the incident per my trainer. The vehicle inspection says I "disobeyed a traffic control vehicle" or something like that. Clean besides that. He didn't really actually do a inspection.

ALWAYS challenge EVERY citation. You must protect your CDL, it is your lively hood. Most citations are overturned when challenged, do your homework.

I agree but Its not a citation. Its a written warning. As far as I know you can't fight that, it doesn't go in your MVR but does on your CSA report.

That's why I'm asking and why I'm worried.

Written does not go on YOUR CSA, but companies CSA. New rules (Dec 8, 2015) make that irrelevant.
