I quit the union company I was with paying $36.00 a week and to continue my coverage for the next 18 months I'm paying out of pocket $580 a month, only because I was in a wreck out of work and have massive hospital bills but after that quote you posted $580 a month isn't to bad for me... Just out of curiosity are you a smoker or non? I'm sure you know Obama care is behind the high cost...

If I worked as hard as I did when I was a company driver there'd still be a huge difference in income including health insurance costs.
That's for a company OTR job which in my view is underpaid for what you do.
These union LTL guys get paid more and some get free health insurance. If I wasn't here that's what I'd be doing

I was union local home every night, not ltl, hauling trash and mine wasn't free but for 36 a week, you can almost say it's free...

    I don't smoke.
My coverage I got though is below average.

So much for the "affordable health care act" LOLOLOL what a joke and the joke is on us.
To put in perspective before Crete I got health insurance on my own two years ago and it was $150 month for a lot better coverage. Now for worse I'm paying nearly double.

so long story short, had a trucker friend had blue cross, got a brain tumor, can't drive, out of work, health ins dropped, sent big bill from hosp, basically bankrupt. healthcare is about the biggest scam there is, you don't have to be for universal healthcare but little do you know you are paying both for your plan and for everyone else when premiums go up from people who don't pay. also had an ex who worked in healthcare billing, had to fight all day on the phone to get ins companies to pay. its sad this country profits so much from the health of its people. rant over.

Yeah, it's all BS and a scam.
All I will say is that I don't see how getting fined for not having health insurance could be even constitutional.
Won't get into that much cause then this will turn into a political thread :biggrin_25524:

I for one rather have health ins. I pay $50.75 a month through tricare. For all the horrible stories you here about ins. You here about the same for success of ins. FW, there is a lot of people who don't want you to have insurance.

Are you in good health? How often do you see the doctor? Are you on any kind prescription medicine?

If you are in good health, don't go to the doctors but once a year, I would recommend a health saving account plan. It's usually a high deductible, $4500-6000, but once you hit the deductible it covers you at 100%. Best part is you can put money away each year into the health savings account pre-tax. You can contribute and save money to it every year letting it grow until you need it. Just doing a quick search for Tennessee health insurance there are a few plans out there for hsa like the bluecross blueshield plan silver S19E for $240/month, $3000 deductible, $4250 max out of pocket, 10% Coinsurance or go directly to bcbs website and search for a plan from them directly.
