I am seriously thinking of changing agents. Mine is slower than molasses. Told her on 12/4 to submit the BMC-91 for my MC number. Still nothing yet after a half dozen times of me asking. No it is not a hold up at the FMCSA, or a problem with me or my policy they just have not got around to submitting it. Latest story is she submitted it to the underwriter Wednesday and is waiting to hear back.
How long does your insurance agent take to do things?

Hard to imagine how some people stay in business isn't it?
Dominick253, mountaingote and whoopNride Thank this. -
Unbelievable, after what you pay them for insurance you would think they would at least do their job

Yes it drives me absolutely nuts. The past three days I worked about 18 hours a day (no driving) just because I had so much to get done fro my clients before they scattered for the Holiday week. I always do whatever I can to take care of my customer's needs. I fully understand people get busy but two weeks to submit a simple form?
I have my business auto, personal auto, umbrella, and three houses insured with this agent. I am sure they have plenty of larger customers than me but as much money as I send them every year you would think they would give a little better service than that.Dominick253 and Rock 'n Roll Relocater Thank this. -

That isn't all they have screwed up either. Last year we traded in three older trucks on one new one. Told them via email to remove the three and add the new one. A few months ago we get a call about an insurance claim from a wreck one our trucks was in. We didn't have any wrecks. Evidently they removed two of the old trucks and not the third and whoever got it never got insurance so when the cops ran it our insurance came up. Finally got it sorted out by what a hassle.
If I don't have my BMC submitted Monday I am going to start looking for someone else. Maybe if I get a different agent (in a completely different office)with the same company it won't be too much of a hassle.Rock 'n Roll Relocater Thanks this. -

It isn't the agent that submits the BMC-91 to the FMCSA, it is done electronically from the Insurance Carrier to the FMCSA. Very similar to how it is done with personal vehicles. The state or FMCSA has no idea who your agent is, they just know you have adequate coverage from Travelers, Progressive, State Farm, etc....
However that being said your agent should call the INSURANCE CARRIER and find out why it isn't uploaded yet. What is your effective date - now or in the future? If it is a future date, that may be the hold up.
