Best wishes, Lucy. Keep looking, there are good companies. KC is a good resource for work.
You comment on the buzz around "driver shortage." There's something wrong with that, I keep thinking. For one thing, recruiters and mega carriers have no moral issues with floating information that isn't 100% accurate to get more trainees. They get paid to train people, then they charge the same people for the training, and then lease them trucks! (some) I think the driver shortage information is questionable.
How is there a valid driver shortage, and slow freight at the same time? If freight is actually slow (it's a bit soft in some spots, for sure) how can there be a "driver shortage?" Wouldn't slow freight cause a "driver getting short miles" situation? Just sayin'.

Yes they do. Yes they are. KC terminal is in Lenexa. But they require at least a year.
I would strongly suggest against YRC due to their debt, pension problems, bad equipment, contractual paycut, and the adversarial relationship between labor and management. Other than all that, YRC is great.Last edited: Dec 21, 2015

So anyone on here work for an LTL that runs daycabs/doubles. What's the pay like? I've heard it's mainly night driving especially in the begining...Also do you ever stay out a night or 2 a week?

Most ltl companies will start you on p&d which is during the day.. The money isn't as good as linehaul but it's still very good. Dayton linehaul is home everyday with the exception of a few system drivers.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
