I can see why they might ask the question. I've had it happen a couple times when I call on a load and the MC of the guy I'm talking to is different than the MC that was posted. I think they're trying to hide a bad credit rating.

Coal, your phone number probably doesn't match the phone number that the MC is tied to. The broker might think you're posting under someone else's MC to hide a bad safety rating.

Yes it still has the highest fuel tax in the nation. The state is pushing the idea of tolled roads to enter or exit on a highway as well. The state is also pushing for a road tax for all vehicles based on mileage in the state.

Nothing cheap about living up here either.

Which is why you need to set your own rates not base them off somebody else's alleged numbers if they even know them (carriers) or prices they attempt to set (brokers and shippers) "that's all I have in it" "I already for a quote for $xxxx less; you'll have to meet or beat that price"

It's plenty of carriers who let you book your own loads using their numbers. Some companies have guidelines on who you can haul for and etc but it's very common

From what others have told me I know, Bill recruited his O/O's after he hand picked them.
If you'd been around here long enough or search the archives you can find it posted here when Bill was setting the farm to fleet thing up.

Correction. I *might* take a $1 a mile load. I never have yet in 4 years of working spot. And there's very few in the ledger that go below $2 even @ my 89% cut. The cheapest load I booked was a $1.37 @ 100% this year from somewhere near Carlisle, PA down to Goodlettsville, TN. But that was a follow-up to a 1,000 mile one pick 3 drops up to Long Island from CHR that paid $4,200 gross revenue.

It's not misleading in a thread about "rates" to post the true gross revenue. That is after all the actual truck rate. It does not include empty miles as those are not any way part of a rate. It does not include what the broker made either.

We all have different expenses and I keep accurate numbers on loaded and empty miles, every mile I turn actually. My 89% take or what I averaged all miles is not the rate but I do break all that down for my own book keeping. In fact I only keep up with gross revenue number at 89% in my books. I don't waste time with the gross 100% number as I never see 11% of that anyways.

This is exactly what happens rank. I have my own individual account with DAT and ITS. When I post up my truck it has my first and last name then my cell number. My name isn't William Hood Trucking DBA Farm2Fleet Trucking but anyone who takes a few seconds to look at "my" MC# when they click on my posting will clearly see it is Farm2Fleet's authority. I always put "Farm2Fleet Trucking" in the comments on every truck posting to help out.

You guys saying there is something unusual about it are way off base. There's nothing unordinary about it at all. As far as the broker paying half like that when I booked the load, nothing unusual about that either. I went thru all the normal, proper channels when I booked the load. Forward the rate co to the office, it's not my job to sign those that's what they do, I also said pkease note payment terms. Do you independent guys just book an unknown broker without giving it a thought? I wasn't sitting at my computer able to pull up their credit.

I never do that. I don't really worry about that anyways because I'm usually booking with the same dozen or so brokerages over and over - mostly the big players. I just keep my cell phone handy and answer.

It is listed as an "N", but when a carrier signs up I offer my corporate Paydex score which is 80. I also pay within 24hrs of receipt of clean bills via paper check (no fees), ACH (2% fee) or Comdata (2% plus $10 Comcheck fee).
