Ive seen your pictures and you know what strap protectors are used for. You've probably seen hundreds of loads going going down the road and think to your self stupid f### not one strap protector on the whole load. You know them straps are probably cut and junk.

I totally get what you're saying and what their reasoning is. I still think it's silly.

Does Prime allow to sell back or keep the equipment if you decide to leave? I agree that it's a silly concept to charge company drivers for equipment but on the other hand, every company I've worked for that didn't charge for the equipment eventually had a lot of junk to work with and constantly bought new stuff over and over again. I'm not planning (or have any desire) to lease a truck from them or any company but would like to learn as much as possible about O/O and getting with another company in the future and keeping the equipment I just paid for would be nice.

With that said, I have found some very well written and useful threads on this forum and others on the do's and don't of O/O.

You can keep it or sell it back, all or some of it, whatever you don't want to keep.

That's good, at least those $60 payments are not in vien. Yes, I'm sure you can find the stuff cheaper elsewhere but if your flying from FL to MO like myself, it is worth the convenience to have a truck stocked and ready to go when you get there and ready to work.

And just to confirm, Prime pays $50 to tarp/un tarp? I couldn't get and answer to that from them.

It's actually a good price for what it is, you might find the same prices from a trailer dealer or a truck dealer that's having a promotion but you'd have to hunt around.

$25 to tarp and $25 to untarp, so they usually say $50 but on rare occasions it will be more on a one stop load. sometimes it will be $75. I had one that paid $125 to throw some steel tarps over some crates. It's unlikely to see more than $50, but it does happen for a company driver.

The bad part is if you pick up a tarped load and have to swap it with another driver. you only get paid $25 to tarp it. So when you get to the yard you have to untarp it and put on the yard tarps. Sometimes you can leave your equipment on and then just swap with whatever equipment the other driver has, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Not too easy to carry extra gear on the grey dog.
Bet lots of gear gets donated back to prime chunks.

Lol no gray hound, I'm flying on my own dime. A free ticket isn't enough payment to get me on a cross country bus.

Skellr, do you still drive for prime?

Yes, I'm still here. It's not the best place but it's not the worst.
