Dodgeram I was going through the same area last night in a cascadia. Floor heat with no defrost and I had no ice. Defrost is an enemy at these temps as it melts the snow and causes buildup. I could tell every truck that had defrost on because they were all stopped knocking ice.

The best answer is a long hood truck and a old fashioned bug shield. I can't count the number of times some peep has walked up to me and spouted off on how dumb I am for ruining my fuel milage. I look over at the space shuttle they are driving and chuckle. Keep you speed over 30 and keep on tuckin. I might get a little on the upper corners and if the wind is blowing sideways one whole window covered but vary seldom.
A 359 Pete works the best with the narrower cab and more angled windshield. Defrost turret dead center. Amazing how things go backwards. -
This looks like a viable option:

Found this video for "The Shaker" that is a more informative. Looks like it has potential. Not sure of the cost. I'd like to maybe just try one if that was possible.
They are $140 for dual-motor kit if you buy direct. Dealers are listed here ...

Either it works on big trucks or it doesn't. Some responses from those who've tried it in various conditions would be nice.Hurst Thanks this. -
Thats what I do. Have always done. Cranking defrost only does so much. Wiper blades will cake up with ice no matter what. Pull over periodically and beat the arms against the glass to bash the ice off. Then run the washer for a min with the wipers on.
Then repeat when they cake up again. Thats winter driving 101,.. and I'm from Fla. LOL

You don't need to pull over to knock the stuff off of the blade(for some reason the passenger side hardly ever builds up in any truck I've driven).
Roll down your window, stick your arm out, use whatever took you have that will reach the wiper, and flick it a few times. Snow and ice come off. Rinse and repeat. I used an old tire gauge and a back scratcher. Worked fine. -
I'm having a total brain fart. Where/ how do I start a new thread? I can't figure it out. Sleep depravation. Lol

I wish the truck builders would make the the wiper switch system in such a way you could stop the arms in the "up" position if/when needed. The wooden back scratcher seems like the ideal tool. Just maybe let the blade ride up and over the "scratcher hand" end and maybe knock some of the ice off?

Went out to the Cinebistro in Wesley Chapel yesterday to have diner, drinks and watch the new Star Wars movie in barcolounger seats. Then took my wife out to Hudson beach and we watched the sunset.
All while wearing cargo shorts, sandals and a T-shirt.
God bless Florida.
