i've been driving since August and one thing i can say so far that has cost me some time is tarp folding. I found a video off youtube on a guy showing how fast it takes him to fold his tarps, but he didn't show the initial setup, I thought I knew how it was done but it ended up costing me time. Can anyone iterate on this method, or another possible solution?
Need help trying to figure out how this guy folds his tarps

Looks pretty thorough. That is how I did it for 20 years. What exactly is your question?
-
can you possibly explain how its done? shed some light on how you set it up.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
Put the bungie hook in the corners, hooked to the trailer. It is pretty clear in the video the rest.
Sorry but I still don't understand what you mean by setup? The video couldn't be more clear. -
Ok what lacks is the first part. You have your tarp layed out and you grab one end and go to center of tarp. Then go to the other side and repeat. Then fold the side over and repeat the other side then follow his steps. easy

This is what I know as a rail fold.
The tarp he is folding in the video is a steel or 4 foot drop.
This is can be done inside or outside depending on where you want your edges to be.
I usually do an outside.
Lay your tarp out flat on the ground.
Hook a bungee to a point on the trailer.
Hook the grommets or D rings at the 4 foot point.
Go to other end and grab hold of the tarp at the same place as the bungee, pick up and give a little shake and pull a it. It should look like an M at this point. Wave it back and forth once or twice and flip it in half. Go take the end off the bungees on the trailer and fold and roll.
Takes like 5 minutes all together.Michael91184 and Hurst Thank this. -
That is the cats meow right there.
I'm going to try that the next time I fold my tarps. I've been doing it the hard way, doing it on the ground going from front to back. That looks really simple. I seriously need to learn how thats done.
Thank you for showing this video.
The only thing I dont understand is how he got the second fold before he rolled it up? I mean if you pull on it,.. I can see the single fold,.. but how would that work on a 26' long with 8' drop? I have multiple folds before I roll mine up.
Anyone?

Can this be done with a lumber tarp or 8ft drop?

This could actually be an interesting thread.

I wish I had a easy way to fold my tarps, I have the worst tarps. I think they are designed for hay loads. The brand on them is Montana canvas. Basically it's a three tarp system meant to spand my 53ft flat bed. They are kicking my ### more then ever now that they are frozen with snow and mud.
