picking up my trailer next week. I opted for the wider headboard instead of the shorter stock one. after talking to a dozen drivers with my co, it's a 50/50 split on putting the tool boxes in the rear between the axles or in the center, one on each side. been told... the ones in the rear get water in them, in the center they do not. if ya blow a tire on trailer it may take out the $800.00 box, ( or whatever the cost is) plus easier to service brakes e.t.c. without boxes in the way.
since I haul mostly single coils, I can have my boxes right where my load will be on trailer. I am not sure I made the right choice on location of boxes. my winch straps will slide under boxes, so no prob there. it was a coin toss, but what decided it for me is after driving for over 17 years & seeing all the flatbeds going down the road,I seem to recall almost all have there boxes held up & doors tied with straps & whatnot to keep the doors from falling off.
so I figured they must take a beating back there & maybe bounce more? don't know, got the big bubba.Ruthless Thanks this. -
Let's see some pictures!
I'd like to have one with 3 boxes and a dunnage rack. I like the new cam lock style doors/latches....seem much more sturdy. -
going to pick up prob fri next week. got a dedicated run & I am scheduling a good time for everyone, especially me, so I will not lose revenue. in fact scheduling a load out of ghent ky to 3 blocks from my home. just got to make sure everything is lined up time wise. should not have a prob. will put pic's up when I get her home.

I have the 53 foot Mac and have the boxes between the axles. I like the way that looks better than in the center of the trailer. Not saying one way is more functional than the other.
With yours in the center where you are loading the coils be carefull of how you throw your Chains through your coils so that they don't swing and put dings in your boxes.
I personally don't like the headboards and opt for a headache rack instead because I haul a good bit of beams and sheet piling that I sometimes need to hang over the front and they also make getting onto the deck of the trailer more difficult. But that is also my personal preference.
Either way you have a great trailer and should get many years of service out of it.heavyhaulerss and Ruthless Thank this. -
