Need help trying to figure out how this guy folds his tarps

Discussion in 'Flatbed Trucking Forum' started by Michael91184, Dec 30, 2015.

  1. Now with that being said. What videos show other methods for folding 8' or 6' with flap. Since we have "rail fold" for smaller square tarps.

    MJ1657 Thanks this.

I believe we all know how to fold a tarp, thanks.

Have a look at some of the flat beds running around with tarps strapped to the deck in a big cluster ball and tell us "we all know". lol. There are lots of folks that don't even have a clue. Or maybe just don't care that a few extra minutes folding one up right will save those minutes and more when it comes time to roll it back out.

MJ1657 and Slowpoke KW Thank this.

I do one more half fold before rolling, that way I can fit both in the side box on the trailer.

I do have one 6ft drop flat tarp, no flaps or ears, that I do a type of rail fold on. Adjust the hook point to about the 5 ft spot. Fortunately this tarp has D rings all the way down the sides.

  8. Like @MJ1657 said. Not everyone. The OP doesn't know.

It wouldn't hurt to have some tarp folding styles.

@Rontonio , @passingthru69 have done some folds I'd like to see as well as @catalinaflyer

Our tarps are all 8' (lumber) tarps so "rail folds" are pretty difficult so I fold more like the video @peterbilt_2005 posted. Same way with my 50' X 60' machinery tarp. That one can be done with one person but that adds over an hour to folding.

On the 50X60 tarp, that a light weight or ?. Has to be a handful no matter what.

See I fold my tarps like how they do in the video that peterbilt_2005 posted except I don't have the flap on my tarps.

I think that big tarp that Catalinaflyer has requires 3 full grown and forklift and a crane.. lol
