The Freightliner salesman I talked to in Medford, OR told me that the Cascadia will be available in 2008. And the Columbia & Century will no longer be made as of the 09' model year. Also, the Detroit is gone as is the Mercedes....they are combining forces to produce one motor. I have the brochure on the Cascadia....it's a knockoff of the T-2000/387....almost the same lines....wide set...sweeping front fenders that carry over into the door skins.....not a bad looking truck....for a freightliner that is.

Well that sucks. I really like to look of the columbia. Well i guess I'll just have to go to my second choice a International 9900 ix. That is a sweet truck.

If you really want something like a 379 Pete you can do much better than that. First, go down to your nearest big box truckstop. In the drivers lounge there will be a rack with free copies of the Truck Paper. Bunches of trucks for sale. I opened my latest copy and on page 2 found "2004 PETERBUILT 379EXHD, C15 CAT 475HP, 10SPD, PETE LOW AIR LEAF SUSP. 3.55 REAR, 63" ULTRACAB UNIBUILT, 24.5 LP TIRES, ALUM WHLS, 593K MILES $57,900" Now in what way is that 90's model Pete better for the price than this one and there's hundreds of deal like it out there. Don't jump at the first shiny machine you see, look, search, then look some more. Find the best deal you can for the machine you want.

My 2c, I am in the process of trading in an '06 379 with a Cat 550 and 18 speed I have driven a 379 for 16 years and am not real impressed with having to get rid of it, However, with the price of fuel there is no choice but to go to a lighter more fuel efficent machine, and I would strongly recommend AGAINST purchasing a 379 of any description, and the Cascadia is the ugliest POS I have ever seen, but the 387 I am ordering isn't the prettiest machine on the highway, IMHO, looking cool in the stool is illogical in this day and age, and because CAT is no longer making Truck engines after this year and you will have to buy a Cummins or aPACCAR Worldwide DAF motor starting in 2009 I would strongly recommend staying away from anything painted yellow.
