Had a 2015 crapcadia dd15 can't remember if it was 334 or 364 rears . I avg. 7.25 without trying, loads from 30 to 45.5lbs running mostly Midwest. When I really paid attention I would consistently be over 8.
During winter it's as you know very important to pay more attention with cold air being more dence along with the rest of winter conditions. By the way it was a 10 speed. Me personally I wouldn't have an auto because of all the extra electronics
Planning to get brand new 2016 Shaker Cascadia EVOLUTION

2016 dd15 with 12 speed auto 3,23 ration.
Have 5 of them, lowest mpg is 7,5. Pulling tri-axle. Thats on 90xxx km.
Highest is 9.2 mpg with max 25k in the box. Half of the run is on 8 to 12 % grades. Also in the 90k km range.
When not trying to be easy on fuel they can get 7-7,5. Plenty of power, max torque is at 1100 rpm, flat curve.
The side pannels could use better cliping on however it is fixed. All of them are starting to be crooked, the gap between the footstep part is always stretching.
Having intermittent problems with gauges. No lighting up, no display. Starting to get some heater problems.
Bit whatherver... Waranty is going to take care of that.
Western star were at least 15k more, only looking at base model.ChromeNut Thanks this. -
Thank you guys for info.

All and all the dd will give you good mpg. The DT12 is amazing I don't have much experience with it, but from the training and the word from others it's one smart transmission. The DD13 is a much more popular choice of engine as its offered in the Cascadia sleeper, but you'll find more dd15 models in the sleepers and DD13 in the day cabs. Normally the short nose Cascadia's have the dd13's. Both are good and I approve. Don't forget to purchase extended warranty on the engine side and after treatment. The Cascadia evolution is also designed to be aerodynamic so that will help with the mpg.

For what it's worth, When I drove for Crete, I had a 2011 sleeper DD15, 10 speed.
It was pretty consistent 7+ mpg (governed to 62mph). A few times, I pulled off 9+ mpg but with an empty box.
I've driven DD13 daycabs with another company, that got a little worse fuel mileage. I don't understand that.
Recently, I received a brand new 2016 Sleeper Cascadia (governed at 70mph), 10 speed, short nose, with another company.
I put about 70k miles on it, and it got about 6.5-7.5 mpg, pulling light loads (15k-30k). The steering on the short nose sleepers are strange feeling.
I will say that they ride quite good, even better than the 2011 I drove for Crete.
The standard seat though hurt my lower back because even with all the air let out, the seat back still was fairly hard like a full whoopy cushion. Might want to upgrade the seat.
Note: The quality control was not looking too good. I had to tighten some fender bolts on the inside of the drivers door area.
Also, I had penske check the grease level in the steer box because I didn't see any residue of grease on the fitting, but on the others. It was almost empty, considering how much grease he pumped in.
If you buy a new one, have a good looksee.Last edited: Nov 6, 2016

You can get 10 MPG from Detroit ser 60 with good programming of the computer. One tooth advance of the the cam and different adjustments of the valves and injectors, some people know how to do it and we're playing with this stuff on a dyno for years.

By the same token crossing the Gila or wherever else that is flat you should be looking at 10 or mroe if the wind is right. Right?
If you don't like the Pete, put it onto the junk yard a while, I wont mind saving a penny or two to come home with it.
