If you spent a week in a sub you would understand hygiene to its fullest when 3 ppl share one bed and you have limited water

I was on destroyer once that had evap go down . The first thing they like to cut is showers. Captain said no more shaving either. I remember trying to take a shower with a tiny stream of water coming out of the shower. Of course it was almost at a boil. I'm glad it was only for a week. USS Moosebrugger.jac714 Thanks this.

Thank God I could always get a job and didn't have to rely on the military

So are you saying that I had too rely on the military for a job?

Nobody cares what a driver looks like, it's solely a reflection of how they feel about themselves. A professional dresses professionally because that's how he sees himself, a slob does the same.

Seems a silly post. People are gonna dress the way they want. I just wanna know what the op is wearing when he crawls under the tractor or has to throw chains in the snow.

I guess I'm amazed at the number of people defending the slobs. Those folks affect how you are treated as a driver, any facility frequented by a high percentage of slobs tends to treat every driver like slobs. Go somewhere frequented by more professional drivers and you're treatment will reflect the difference in quality of drivers.
And it's not necessarily about being clean all the time... flatbedders and carhaulers, among others, tend to get dirty doing their work. But there's a difference between 'work' dirty and 'slob' dirty.
And the lack of self-respect the slobbiness indicates shows in every aspect of that driver's work, from paperwork to treatment of equipment to behavior at customer's facilities.Swedish Chef, addrenjunky and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
This is where I agree. I think I looks bad on the driver and the company for them to pull in to the customer wearing their slouch clothes. Jeans, boots and a sweatshirt or t-shirt is good. My wife works in retail and she always talks about how inappropriate the drivers are dressed when they come in, or how ridiculous they act. And even how bad they are driving. People are watching us here drivers!
