The first two weeks the drill sargents were all over me. I know they were laughing theirs butts off after some of the stuff. One time they brought me in the office and did the old Sargent Smith told me you said I was an a hole. Then I would say no I didn't say that. Then you're calling drill Sargent Smith a liar. No drill Sargent. Week three they moved on to someone else.

I have lighter pair that I take with me in case I have to do a lot of walking and crawling around under and on things. The offer better grip but they are not water proof and offer little ankle support. The other pair is what I normally wear. They are waterproof but have horrible traction on certain surfaces. Kind of sounds like I need to find a better pair of boots doesn't it?

Pretty dumb assed comment. I had a good job when I joined the Navy, it was a family tradition to serve the country that went back to before the revolution. Pat Tillman had a pretty good job as well.

Very few of the men and women currently serving needed a job but rather made a rather selfless choice to serve to protect the right of ##### like you to say stupid ####.

Read through all that, I'm shocked. Maybe it helps that I was in an industry before this where impressions and appearances could decide your future. But when I walk into a terminal with a plain black button up collared shirt and freaking black cargo pants, I shouldn't be mistaken for management.

You either care about the impression you leave or you don't. Truth is I don't care to impress anyone but the people I'm pulling for and thier customers. I can dress like a filthy biker when with the family.

And Christ's sake never cuss in front of the terminal staff. Idiot started doing it, didn't take a hint and I walked away.

Language is a part of the presentation, and in a setting like that, you wait for them to fire the first ****.

My ETS was in 85... Completely different Army in that short time. Reagan modernized it in a hurry,

The only uniform part that was the same were my Boots and Low Quarters, went from M16 to A1, CRats to MRE, Steel Pot to Kevlar... I guess the gas mask was the same too.

They were still using the M16 and steel pots when I was in. Of course I was only in bootcamp and my guard unit.

Yeah, that would have been during the transition. I was actually still able to wear my OD Green fatigues right up until my ETS, but I had a full set of BDU's also. The wear out date was a month or so after I got out.
