Some simply spend it with their hand, other ones spend it with fam and some it's just another day.

Unemployed for a week waiting for everyone to show back up to work on Monday and pick up all the freight and leave me with leftovers paying 85 cents per mile.
I'm the mean time, fuel taxes, IRS, DMV, paperwork, yardwork, and T.V. -

There is no excuse for not being home with family for the holidays. Ill find a new profession before missing time with my love ones.

You'd think most outfits could route you past your house for the holiday. It's not like anyone is going to be open that day. Even Walmart doesn't take deliveries that day (all the merch is already in the store by then)
FYI, if your in PA, NJ or DE (MD?) around Thanksgiving, I recommend a "Turkey Bowl" from Wawa (most have 15 minute truck parking). When my kid was born (a week before Thanksgiving) we had the whole family over and no ability to cook, so I just ordered 15 Turkey Bowls from Wawa. My mother took the family to a local diner instead, but when they came back they said the food was bad, the service terrible, and they spent too much for a party of 8.
They had the turkey bowls the next day and everyone agreed they were much better. -
I've been at the TA buffet many times during Thanksgiving and I have to tell you, that's one Hell of a spread and it was good. The place was jam packed with more local people then truck drivers.
Here's a hint I discovered years ago. Get your food to go. I can take out 2 or 3 meals worth for the price of the sit down buffet, drink and tip.
