Tunnel Restrictions In Baltimore MD

I hated taking the fort mchenry tunnel, doing construction and having to get off on MLK in mid morning. You delivering in the city? I used to do a baltimore run once a wk when I was doing food service. mostly around the inner loop. Pretty ghetto in some areas

 

About 4 years ago it was legal to haul diesel through the Baltimore tunnel. I was told that the cops would pull over the tanker with 1993 placards and smell the cap to confirm it was diesel. If it smelled gas than up to $10000 fine.Even on a non restricted hwy a $1000 fine for each wrong placard

 

Stop truck, get out and remove cards. Drive through tunnel.

 

You can pull diesel / heating oils through the harbor tunnel with a 1993 placard, no gas. most all the trucks coming out of Fairfield use I895 ( Harbor Tunnel )

 

Does anyone know if liquid carbon dioxide is ok to go through the tunnel with? It's placarded as a compressed non flammable gas.

Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) govern the transport of hazardous materials across our toll facilities. Under these regulations, vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container (maximum of 10 containers), bulk gasoline, explosives, significant amounts of radioactive materials, and other hazardous materials are prohibited from using the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) or the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895). The Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695, the Baltimore Beltway) is a convenient alternative route for crossing Baltimore's Harbor.

So if I ran to the gas station and filled my 20lb propane bottle for the grill, I couldn't use the tunnel? Imagine that.
