As long as you qualify as a short haul, return to the same terminal within 12 hours, no 30 minute break is required.

When i was local. 1 hour counted towards our 12 or less. 30 min lunch. 30 min pre and lost. I don't see why it would be different now that its a rule.

oh but the rules have changed... so long as you start and end at a terminal within 12 hours, no break is required.

The rule did change, I hate the 30 min break, but law only changed for companies operating on 12 hrs. We work 14 hr days so rule change does nothing for me.

Company policy may affect it as well, we are told do not go over 12 and tou need to take your 30. Law or not local or not i have to take mine. Not a bad thing mind you......

If you travel less than a hundred mile air radius from the domicile.

I just don't like it, how many times during shift are you actually doing nothing? I don't count standing around waiting as work, so I figure I take 4-6 breaks from 5-20 min. a day, no need for a mandatory break to be included.

well that is part of the qualifying for short haul, but NOT the ONLY requirement.

And it is NOT domicile, it is work reporting location.

I'm sure there are labor laws that require a lunch break.

find them and report back with the law, and that it applies to trucking. Just because you think there is a law, does not make it so.
