Your dispatcher makes a world of difference. I told mine I needed to be home Friday. Got nervous when I got a load to northern OH on Wed. However got unloaded this a.m. and was preplanned on a load that picked up less than 2 miles from the last delivery. Already preplanned on a load that will get me home by lunchtime Fri. and will get me out Monday a.m. I very seldom have to wait for a load assignment.

I don't usually have to wait for loads either. I just spend hours on a back haul at the dock. Or get my usual 350 to 450 mile trip. Avarage about 1900 per week. I don't care what anyone says. That's crap for OTR!

Is it against companies policy for someone to be in the top bunk sleep while the truck is moving?

I thought it was. This was my first week of Otr training and I asked my trainer if he I could put my covers on his bed and sleep while he was driving. He told me no and that I would have to get used to sleeping on the top bunk while the truck was in motion. I was like with all do respect I'm not sleeping up there while we moving. I called his fleet leader and he claimed that it wasn't illegal and that dot has approved cargo to let people sleep in the top bunk while in motion.

He is full of $%#t! Call and ask for Jerry Wydale. He'll have a chat with your trainer and Dispatcher. I'll bet they won't tell him it's alright. Shouldn't be an issue anyway. All you need to do is put your blanket over his. No big deal. I'm going to call jerry myself in the morning and tell him. I'll post what he says.

So I have brought it to the attention of safety and they are going to address this with the drivers. Their short answer is if you feel unsafe then DON'T DO IT! I Also know you called in this morning which was the right thing to do. I personally would not ride in the top bunk while the truck is inmotion. Nor would I ask a trainee to do it.

I talked to les or Lynn and they had the same views and thoughts that I did that it was illegal and unsafe to be on the top bunk while the truck was in motion. He was like unless they recently changed it and he wasn't aware of it then he wouldn't want anyone anyone in the top bunk while the truck was in motion. He connected me with Jerry Waddell and I left him a voicemail.

Nestle waters is a nightmare around allentown, pa .I waited 8 hours to get loaded and was forced to start my 10 hour break backed in the dock door. Wal-Mart DC bottled water load.
