Hello!
So I just was looking through some of my old paperwork trying to find this speeding ticket that I got in August of last year, just to make sure it was within 15 MPH of the posted speed limit for the class I want to start. To my dismay it turns out to actually be 18 MPH over the limit. I was tagged doing 53 in a 35!! Which is my own stupid fault I completely understand. So am I basically just done for at this point? I need to wait 2 years for this to fall off my record before I stand any chance of landing a job? The school I wanted to go to even at CCC & TI in Hudson NC, states on the website I can not even qualify for the class now. I do not know if they will make an exception or not, I assume not. But I will call them first thing in the morning.
Any advice? I think I am just boned. Total bummer.
Speeding ticket.

Well 15+ over is excessive speed and could also have a reckless driving. I myself was stupid at a younger age. 22 years old, got a 20 over. I was disqualified for 3 years. Once that 3 years mark is up you should be good with mega carriers.

They won't make an exception because due to dot regulations you can't even hold a cdl for 3 years.

Does anyone know if the Defensive driving course would remove the ticket from my record? Or does it just remove the points from your license? State of NC.
-
That one I cannot answer because when I was disqualified I just waited it out because I had a newborn on the way anyways. Sorry Windir.

Contact a few companies and ask if they will hire you. Some cdl schools will let you enroll if you can get a pre-hire letter from a company; try a different school.
Carolina Cargo -may recommend a school that will take you.
Carolina Southern
Carolina Logistics - has their own school.
Western Express - has their own school.Windir Thanks this. -
Considering you were 18 over the posted speed limit your chances are slim finding a company that will hire you.this is also very recent so that's another strike..most require waiting three yrs before you're eligible.but after a year I still would ask companies.but that means absolutely no more tickets.if you got tagged for doing no more then ten over companies would work with you but eighteen over, not very likely.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

I got caught in Oklahoma doing 63 in a 45 on hwy 54. guy that pulled me over was a drug officer of some kind and after seeing I kept a clean log book and was very polite and honest offered me a deal to pay 400 bucks to the county he worked in and the ticket would be off my record. and true to his word it was! didn't realize how lucky I was at the time but boy am I glad now!!

Interstate trucker tickets attorney service wins the case everytime for me. They kept 3 Ohio tickets off my drivers license and an Arkansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Texas tickets. Going to court so you can continue to make a living is what you must do. Because they make their living by writing tickets

Yea, the problem I have is that I plead guilty to the ticket in September. So I do not have the option of fighting the ticket at this point, I have pretty much just screwed myself out of a new career for the next three years it looks like. Which is a pretty devastating blow given my personal situation at this time. But once again this is only my own dumb fault, not the police officers or anyone elses. I am holding out very little hope that I can continue to look into the state of NC one time expungement law. Looking into it now, the details are a little fuzzy. But it seems to be my only chance other then waiting it out, and I am at a point in my life where I would really prefer to not wait it out.
Thanks for everyone that has responded with advice. I appreciate it!
