Lots of white smoke and no power.

    Well I had a new turbo installed because the old one popped and locked up. The new turbo started up ok but after running it it continued to smoke at start up and also started leaking oil again. It eventually just died and I had to get it towed back to the yard. I had to start it back up to move it inside and it struggled to turn on and stay on. The smoke was still very heavy. I shut it off as quickly as possible. I'm concerned that it may be more than the turbo and I might need a overhaul? Anyone ever experience this and how much damage did you have to repair? Thanks

    No expert, but what all did you change/clean when the original "popped"? When they go, they tend to spew oil everywhere. Including into the rest of your intake and exhaust systems. It might also be helpful to know the specs on your engine/truck.

    2007 freightliner century 515 Detroit. I didn't see the mechanic do it but he said any oil that was pulled would be burned out. Now that I'm doing my own research I see a lot more has to be done than just burned out by itself.

    CK. if the shop removed, replaced or cleaned your air cooler in front of rad. oil an parts from turbo blow up go down air tube and are caught in it then on start up are blown into eng.

    If your old turbo grenaded, the CAC(air to air radiator) has to be removed and clean. There will be pieces, etc. stuck in it. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Cost me another turbo.

    EGR Valve. Needs to be replaced. A mechanic told me . It switches exhaust form the engine to the turbo and exhaust from the turbo back to the engine . Or something

    Type in your problem with the truck in the internet and see it a you tube video of mechanic showing you how to fix it . That's how I fix my car
