DOT shut down . From my understanding They had 60 days to come up with a plan after intervention to fix whatever the issue was and didn't .

Land Air and Land Air Express of New England two different companies. LAXNE was reinstated 1/7/2016 with authority for two years on a conditional basis. Will be interesting to see if they can climb out of a hole after a 16 day shut down.

The issue was compliance with alcohol and drug testing. Bottom line a couple of company employees managed to piss off DOT in that area.

NP. What LAXNE did was wrong but IMO didn't warrant a 16 day shutdown. From what I hear when the company tried to submit a plan to correct as required, but DOT did not respond. This resulted in the loss of their FCSMA authority from 12/29 to 1/7, effectively put over 750 people out of work, and crippling the company.

If this was the result of violations, so be it, but if this was a vendetta by certain individual(s) in DOT as may have been the case, this is unconscionable.

Much of their freight was picked up by competitors to be delivered, and LAXNE shut down their two NJ terminals and the truckload division. They are trying to climb out of a deep hole now.

I wish everyone there the best, and hope you guys can recover.
