One thing also to consider that I have learned about is checking to see what kind of equipment a company uses. And another piece of info that I found helpful is if a company has a really high starting CPM it usually means they don't have many miles for you to drive. So just because you might think a job is "sub standard" in pay could easily make up for it in the amount of miles you get per week and you could end up way ahead of a job that has that nice high CPM.

It doesn't do any new driver, any good whatsoever to obsess over the first company he works with. A little bit of due dilligence, sure. Much more than that, it's a waste.

I didn't say anything offensive, or rude and I didn't give bad advice. I told him not to take "too much time". But you know all this and you are obviously trying to start a fight.

Would you say any of this to my face in real life? Doubtful. I bet we would get along great. Maybe you should disagree the same way you would in real situations. Unless you make a habit of starting fights in rl too.

Lots of the people we went to school with already had jobs when we graduated. After retiring from my last job then starting school on the last day of that job... we decided to take a 10 day break before we get to the grind of working again.

It's all personal choice. Now that we are looking for a team job in the Pacific North West.... it's emails and applications all day. Tiring to say the least, but will be deciding soon.

We opted to pay for our schooling because we were really interested in options. We wanted to control our training and make sure we know a bit more than just how to pass the test.

    Best of luck to you!

Did you look at Lynden? They run teams and hire new cdl grads. Probably get some runs to Alaska.

Yes we are looking at Lynden... would be very interested in going to Alaska... Knowing that you recommend them makes me feel better about giving them serious consideration.

If you have any other recommendation in the Seattle, WA area, please feel free. We are looking for a team job only...

Fastenal came out to the school and the driver manager made a great impression too... It's a lot harder than it looks to land at a great job. The recruiters love to spin that web!

Don't know if they hire from there or not, but they do run trucks in that area; Abilene Motor Express runs teams coast to coast and have a good reputation with drivers.
Pride Transport runs teams coast to coast.
Decker Truck Line runs reefer teams coast to coast.
US Express has a good reputation for teams.

    @Chinatown

We got in touch with Decker. They are very nice. They don't take people from our school (a great school. Best in this area for sure and we know tons more than just to pass the test—as many complain in this forum)... So still need to work somewhere for a while before they would take us.

But, we are hoping for a different solution elsewhere at this point. Don't want to get somewhere then leave in 3 months. Seems anti-productive for our long term plan.

After decades at my last company not sure I am interested in becoming the kind of employee that job hops.

Does US Express have bonuses for referrals?
