I've seen a scalemaster call out on the PA for a driver to get out of his truck, look at him standing next to his truck, then tell him to leave.
Wouldn't surprise me if one of em picked the papers right there too. Funny business at some coops, especially the small ones without a bypass lane. Just a single axle scale

I guess you don't get to the south much. The 45 mph is for the estimator scale. It is designed to estimate your weight at a given speed. If you go too slow, they WILL pull you ### across the platform scale to check. It is designed and built to handle trucks at that speed. GA has similar estimators (most)set for 30 mph. Many states are also going to the On Highway estimators that do the same thing at highway speed with a digital sign telling you to pull in or bypass.
As for the CB, many scales I've seen have a sign telling you to turn OFF your CB when pulling on the scale. The one exception is CO, who use channel 16Badmon, Mudguppy, mjd4277 and 1 other person Thank this. -
No way man...
I ain't pissing her off......LMAObroncrider and Mudguppy Thank this. -
Unfortunately Florida's scalehouses are like 7-11s-they're ALWAYS OPEN and they rarely close,if they close at all and the FHP will go thru the trouble of chasing down a driver if you try to blow past one. The same applies to their agricultural inspection stations as well.

The signs are in english no matter what test you take.
-
Yeah.....I get that.
Which illustrates my point. Why allow someone to take the test in any other language than English (which would seem to indicate at least some difficulty reading/understanding the language) when they need to be able to read the signs in English. Makes zero sense to me. -

wuss, she really does like it!
as far as going south, nope I don't much at all anymore
try rolling a scale in the northwest at 45 mph.....I assure you, you wont like the following conversation
hell, in North Dakota and Montana they'll give you a level 1 on the shoulder of the highway -
A Citizens Band Radio is not required equipment and I have no intention of taking any direction from anyone, LEO included from such a device. To do so is foolhardy.
One of the problems are the wide range of procedures that vary from state to state.
1.The distance of the changeable arrow signs sometimes don't react fast enough to safely determine which lane they want you in.
2. the speeds through a moving scale are all over the place,
3. Some states flashing means bypass, some flashing means enter
4. Signage is at best vague as to intent:
5. Location of scale almost guarantees significant traffic turbulence when entering, leaving
It is way beyond etiquette here. -
I seen two examples of weigh station stupidity today on I 80 coming south through Virginia... First the Winchester scales, there are signs all over saying "maintain 40 mph".... And the idiots in front slam on their brakes going 15.., this backing the ramp up.., EVERY TIME I HIT THIS SCALE.. Then the trouville one? I get prepass, then people stop RIGHT ON THE ROAD!! Never ceases to amaze me the stupidity on that stretch of road now. And that's not even getting into the morons who get out into the left lane and sit there next to the vehicles in the rhs lane... Wth is it with people through there??
