But really, what company will accept someone into one of their classes, other than a Swift, CRST or any other 'bad' company?? Unless you have $4,000 just laying around or have credit good enough to get into a tech college program, AND have the ability to still go to your full time job, then you should have no problem getting onto a 'good' company. However, some (if not most) of us are not that lucky. Some (if not most) have credit issues, don't have any income, don't have that cash just laying around. So what are our options?? Going to Swift or companies like that, working them for a year to pay your tuition bill, get your CDL, then move on.

what other choice do people like that have??

Get A Cdl Permit, Make Friends W A Oo Or Leaser, Drive For Food And A Bunk, Get Three To Six Months Experience And Then Go On Your Own, Although It Was In A Diferent Time And Place, I Got My Ca Class 1 Licence W A Borrowed Truck, And Then Went To Work For A Moving And Storage Co (yes A Bedbugger) As I Had Had Mostly A Desk Job, But They Knew I Could Drive And Didn't Ask For A Lot Of Experience, 4 Weeks Later I Was On A 747 To Detroit To Pick Up A Tractor And Bobtailed To Chicago To Get A Trailer, Loaded A Bit Of Household And A Few Computers And As They Say The Rest Is History, Worked For A Year As A Hourly Driver (guaranteed 60 Hrs A Wk) Overthe Road,if I Didn't Have To Run I Still Got Paid, Bought The Truck I Was Driving As A Lease Purchase And With In Another Year, had Cash In The Bank And A Paid For Truck. Years Passed And The Last Year I Drove Was 1982 And I Drove Some One Else's Truck And Still Grossed 83k.
Decided To Go Back To A Desk Job And Dropped My Cdl, Fast Forward To Today And Now I Want To Get Back On The Road To Get Xtra Coin, Have Talked To Recruiters At Three Companys, Have To Go Thru Their Cdl Mills As A Newby As None Of My Experience Is Verifiable And Current, Instead Will Borrow My Bro In Laws Truck And Trailers To Get My Cdl Back, Get Three Months Current Experience Doing Locals And Try Again.

What is it with capital letters every word??

anyways, borrowing a truck, driving for food and a bed wont put money in your pocket. You gain experience driving that way for 6 months, but still, no money in your back pocket. in 6 mo. with swift, ill have $20k in my pocket. Not to mention 18 months later i'll be hauling cars making $50k.

The forum put the caps on, at work I only use upper case for the computer system we are on, when i did the post, it put the caps on each letter and lower cased the rest of the word, by the way good luck on your quest to be a car hauler, did it for 5 years, hauling out of the auctions and made a dam good living.
Sorry For The "Deal With It".

i have read many post on here i graduated from a truck driving school in he northeast. What is not know by many students is the reason he companies IE: werner, swift, roehl, schneider ect are recruting from the school is the school is getting a kick back from the trucking company THAT is the honest truth I have been driving about 1 year with what was CFI and is now conway truckload the best decision i have made i truly love it here. If you look at some other trucking companies they don't allow cruise control or jake brakes within the first X number of months that is bull oney at conway nothing is turned off i know some long timers will complain about the people using cruise control i love it under the right conditions so if you are thinking about a company please consider conway truckload you will love it if you see me on the road say hello i drive a shiney when washed red t2000 truck number 24010 hanel nitroman

    good luck:biggrin_2558:
