You kinda beat me.
Tony, don't give up. First go look for a truck you can afford. While you are looking save like a man on a mission (because you are). Remember a lot of people don't net $800 a wk. of course they don't work 80+ hrs a week either. But still you should be able to save a chunk of that. Get a little more capital, find a good cheap truck and give rates a chance to rebound and you might find yourself ready to do what you want to do at exactly the right time. 9 months to a year from now there will be a lot of cheap trucks and it should be a better time to start out. Think big picture not about tomorrow.
I can't afford to work for $800 a week anymore!

@TampaTony
3 things that contribute to your plight:
1.) 23%. That's low. Starting pay for the average company driver on a percentage contract is 25%. You would be better off on mileage.
2.) Wyoming is in the center of the dead zone. If the oilfield stuff was still booming, you would be golden. But because it is a deadzone in every direction from you for almost a thousand miles, freight is cheap. You would do better on a mileage contract.
3.) Either someone in the office is cheating you, or they are extremely stupid. 23%of 3500=$805. Please tell me that they are withholding income tax. If they are not witholding income tax, and thats what you are making, the loads have to be paying $1/mile. You can't pull 100k loads for $2/mile and turn a profit.White_Knuckle_Newbie, TampaTony, Sneakerfix and 1 other person Thank this. -
It must be real expensive in Wyoming. Especially if it takes more than 800 a week to survive there I know some places in West Virginia $800 a week you living like a king
