I've been looking to change jobs for the last 2 weeks. I put in an app on to besttruckingjobs...... And I've been getting calls galore! I've made my mind up that I'm no longer hauling a box/reefer trailer ANYMORE. I was interested in driving a tanker. I put in an app with A&R, Prime, Quality Carriers just to name a few. But they each decided not to hire me. The recruiter from Prime actually said my felony was holding me back with them. I'm wondering if that's the case with everybody else I applied to. The only company looking to hire me was Bynum Transport and I declined because I told the recruiter I've never driven a tanker before and I'd need some training and she basically said I'll learn as I go. (We're talking about people lives here..really) and the fact that I'd be making HALF of what I'm making now didn't sit well. Is there a solution to this problem? I.E. a company that'll hire me and not have to take such a pay cut or something I could do to expunge my record maybe? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks drivers

As far as actually pulling a tanker without any baffles/compartments....you will learn to drive differently. Slow down, especially in curves. You will learn to shift at the right time as to avoid the hard surge. If you're pulling a tank with no pump then, there's no training needed because you won't be pumping off loads or loading it. Plenty of information on here involving tanker work.

Never heard of a tanker company that sends an inexperienced drive on the road without training.
What kind of money are you making now?
    Check Indian River Transport.

I was already an experienced driver. Pulled a flatbed prior to the tank. Only had to be trained on the pump and tank procedures. So yes that is common.

I believe Runhard is in the same position. Looks like he is a flatbed bed driver for Maverick.

That's what I meant; still training involved. I had to do the same plus some local runs in the city.

Yes, that looks like a glass division trailer.
He should try Trimac Transportation. There's guys driving there making $100K+ in their Elite Fleet.
