It still has a few little low spots, but it far and away better than it was and it puts Gary to shame.

I understand what you're saying but what I'm saying is I'd rather those drivers not work here or there.
Drivers willing to work for peanuts hurts the rest of us.
Don't mind me, that aspect just hits a nerve of mine.

The customer left because another carrier said they'd do it for cheaper but I guess that's what's going to happen naturally when freight is down, there's more competition for what freight there is.
On the other side of it (from conversations I had during my recertification) we've lost accounts to cheaper carriers who then lost the account because of a lack of service (not having enough drivers).
You're right though if we managed to keep such account we'd probably would have to lower our rates to keep the account. With cheaper drivers it certainly helps the ability to undercut others.

It's been months since I've been to Gary.
Obetz got me a few times when it was raining/ground in wet. Between the holes filled with water and soupy mud on the lot makes for a real messy time.
Nothing like spending $50 on a truck wash, having new shoes and then heading into Obetz after it rains

We lost plent of accounts due to service failures. Rookie drivers can't get it there on time. Experienced drivers cant get it there on time due to rookie dispatch.

Then throw a CSR into the mix and we're lucky the Truck didn't burn to the ground

New contract isn't bad. People are just not use to change of any type.

But right now isn't the time to make the switch to Mercer. Rates are down there like everywhere and the time it takes a new guy/gal to learn the system can put some in the poor house. But those that manage love it. I would suggest saving ones rear off then make the move come next January. Things will start picking up then.
